Gail D. Cox was a journalist and longtime resident of Forest Falls. When she passed away in 2005, she left part of her estate to the community that she loved. Her gift enabled community leaders to create an initiative in support of a community center to serve Forest Falls. In 2006, the Valley of the Falls Community Center, Inc. board of directors moved to acquire Big Falls Lodge for $298,000 by December of that year. The building, which had most recently been The Ark restaurant, and had been shuttered for some time, needed a lot of work to bring it up to a functional state as a community center. At the beginning of 2007, dozens of volunteers gave their time, and businesses donated materials and skills, to restore the historic Big Falls Lodge. On May 26, 2007, the Gail D. Cox Community Center in Valley of the Falls was dedicated to the memory of the women whose life and gift continues to support a gathering place for residents of Forest Falls.

A lot of us shop on Amazon.  Please consider using this link to complete your purchases, it directly benefits VFCCi.  You donít do anything different, but at the end of each quarter VFCCi receives a .5% of your purchases as a donation from Amazon for our 501(c) 3.

Half a percent doesnít seem like much, but if everyone uses it Ė it adds up.  Itís a painless way to donate to our community center.
